The HR enterprise consists of the Partnership for Strategy and
Innovation (Partnership), People Services, Health HR, Campus HR,

Partnership serves as a strategic center responsible for planning
and implementing strategic initiatives across the entire UCI HR
enterprise. People Services is a trusted partner in providing
administrative support functions that allow the UCI community to
focus on their core functions to accomplish the UCI mission of
teaching, research, public service, and patient care. Members of
the Partnership and People Services work in close collaboration
with all three business units to leverage expertise across the
enterprise.

Your Role on the Team
The Vice President-UCI Health/Assistant Vice Chancellor, Human
Resources-UC Irvine (VP/AsstVC) is a pivotal senior leadership role
at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) with responsibility
for leading teams to provide exceptional human resources (HR)
services and solutions to the university community. Reporting to
the Senior Vice President - UCI Health/Vice Chancellor, Human
Resources - UC Irvine (SVP/VC), the VP/AsstVC leads the delivery of
strategic core HR services across the UCI enterprise, including
Main Campus, Health Sciences, and Health. Primarily responsible for
overseeing employee experience services and HR technology. With the
SVP/VC and other senior leadership, the VP/AsstVC directs,
develops, and implements long-term strategic plans for areas of
responsibility and contributes to plan for entirety of the HR
department to support the university's goals and objectives.
Provides visionary leadership in the planning and delivery of core
HR services to all UCI employees. Demonstrates the units commitment
to support employees through the entirety of the employee life
cycle. Develop and execute a strategic plan for HR technology and
the core HR services focused on the employee experience.
Directs delivery of core HR services that are impactful to the
employee experience, including services under the Employee
Experience Center (one-stop employee help center to assist with
benefits, general HR, and payroll inquiries), leaves and workers'
compensation, talent acquisition operations/onboarding, and
employee health (occupational health). Collectively called
"Employee Experience", these teams provide support to academic,
staff, and student employees at all stages of their employment, as
well as decentralized HR contacts and managers. Develops and
implements initiatives to improve the overall employee experience,
from onboarding to offboarding. Conducts employee surveys and
gather feedback to identify areas for improvement.
Leverages technology to its fullest capacity to enhance HR
services. With the Executive Director for HR Technology,
collaborates with partners across the UC system and UC Irvine.
Ensures alignment of technology initiatives with HR goals and
business objectives. Streamlines HR processes through automation
and technological innovation. Identifies gaps in current processes
and design technology-based solutions to address them. Drives
enhancements data reporting and analytics to drive better
decision-making and to provide insights into workforce trends,
employee engagement, and productivity. Oversees leadership of HR
technology projects from conception through to delivery, ensuring
they are completed on time and within budget.
Oversees effective management of vendors and service providers,
including systems providers and leave administration third-party
partnerships. Hold organizations accountable and ensure
service-level agreements (SLAs) are met. Ensure proper stewardship
of UCI resources.
Leads change management efforts related to the implementation of
new HR technologies and processes. Oversees efforts to ensure
changes are communication effectively to all stakeholders to ensure
smooth transitions.
Develops and manages the budget for areas of responsibility,
ensuring efficient and effective use of resources. Monitors
financial performance and implement cost-saving measures where
appropriate.
Develops organizational policies and authorizes their
implementation. Provides advice, guidance and assistance to senior
leadership; establishes the direction, policies and procedures of
the Human Resources unit; represents Human Resources in
organization-wide and / or system-wide meetings and discussions;
plans, designs and implements the programs of the Human Resources
unit; manages through multiple senior managers. Recognized as an
influential leader. Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact
on the overall success of functional, division, or organization
operations.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
The expected pay range for this recruitment is $184,800-$379,400
(Annual).
